Short term and Long Term Running Goals:
One of my short term goals is to run a sub 1:40 at the half marathon in Nashville in April. As for my long term goal…beat Gail Whelan!
Brief Bio:
I was born and raised in Decatur, AL. Even though I started running in high school for the exercise, it was not until I was a spectator at Cotton Row Run in 1981 that I was inspired to make running a bigger part of my life. Being married to a college professor can entail moving about the country. At one point, my family lived in Kokomo, IN where my immediate supervisor and the human resources director just happened to be two very dedicated runners. They worked with me to develop a proper training program. When we moved back home after living in Kokomo, I really missed my running partners, but have found an even bigger support network through the Huntsville Track Club. One of my most memorable accomplishments was qualifying for and running the 2000 Boston Marathon on the Monday following my 40th birthday. When I’m not running, I teach at Bob Jones High School and spend time with Clarke, my husband of 20 years and two sons, Josh, age 18 and John, age 14.
