2011 Rocket City Marathon Training

Is a Marathon on Your Bucket List?

Run your way to your first marathon finish or improve your current time by joining the Rocket City Marathon training program. This training program will help you to prepare for the Rocket City Marathon on Saturday, December 10, 2011.

Workout Times and Locations

First group workout is Saturday, August 27th
Wednesday night workouts are at 6:00 pm
Wednesday workouts will be held at various locations (Aldridge Creek Greenway and Fleet Feet Sports)
Saturday morning workouts are at 6:00 am at the Rocket City Marathon starting location (401 Williams) or Fleet Feet Sports.

Training Group

Runners/Run Walkers, under 12 minute per mile pace
Due to the Rocket City Marathon cut-off time of 6 hours and to ensure quality coaching for all training participants, Fleet Feet Sports will enforce the maximum pace per mile time at 12 minutes per mile for this program.

Assessment Races

In order to better coach you and offer personal training intensities, there are several assessment workouts scheduled throughout the training. One of these assessments will be done at the Monte Sano 10K (race entry required) and another will be done at the Huntsville Half (race entry required). Participation in the race assessment is not required, although it is very helpful in preparing for a successful marathon.

Suggested Activity Level Prior to Start of Training:
We want you to be successful with your marathon training so be sure you meet the following suggestions:
Runner or run/walker with a pace of 12 minutes per mile or faster
Start the training program running a minimum of 3 - 4 days per week, 3 - 4+ miles each workout.
Start this program injury free and ready to do a 6 mile long workout on the first Saturday of the program.

$150 per person
NO REFUNDS after August 25, 2011.
There are no exchanges or transfers at any time.
Registration fee does not include Monte Sano 10K, Huntsville Half Marathon or Rocket City Marathon race entry fee.
A maximum of 100 people will be allowed in the program. 

There is no waiting list.
Kick-off night for Registered Participants
The Training Program will Kick-off on Wednesday, August 24th at Fleet Feet Sports. Kick-off seminar will begin at 7 pm. Mark your calendars for the Kick-off Night on August 24th as this is where all specific training information is reviewed and discussed including training packets, training schedules, seminar dates, etc.
